Vendex KBB is a holding for a diversified group of internationally operating companies. The core activity of the group is retail trading and, prior to fis 1999, services to business and industry. The retail trade sector comprises department stores (Vroom & Dreesmann), specialty stores for fashion, home furnishings and hard goods (Kreymborg, Hunkemoeller, Kien, Claudia Straeter, Perry Sport, Siebel, Stoutenbeek Wooncentrum, Lederland, Superdoe, Kijkshop and Dixons, among others), and prior to fis 1999 also food supermarkets (Edah, Konmar, Basismarkt, Dagmarkt, Torro, and Edi). The services to business and industry sector included temporary help services (ASB, Dactylo, Vedior, Gregg Interim and ADHOC), maintenance services (general and specialized cleaning, catering and security) and miscellaneous services. On June 25, 1998, Vendex International was split-up into Vendex and Vedior. On October 30, 1998, Vendex hived-off its Food activities into Vendex Food Group, which merged with De Boer Unigro into Laurus. The Vendex non-food activities were merged with sector peer KBB.
