Corus Group Plc (formerly British Steel plc) became the world's third largest steel producer as a result of the acquisition of Hoogovens. The company was formed originally when the United Kingdom privatized its major steel works. The group manufactures and distributes steel and related products. It manufactures stainless, coated strip, uncoated strip, sections, plates, engineering, tubular, wire rod and semi-finished steel products. The groups operations are carried out in the United Kingdom, Europe, North America and elsewhere.
