Delft Instruments increase interest in Rogan Medical Systems to 70%
Delft Instruments N.V. announces that it has increased its interest in Rogan Medical Systems B.V., Zeist, Netherlands, from 52% to 70% as from 2 January 2002. The transaction will be paid in cash out of the current cash flow. Rogan Medical Systems develops software for PACS (Picture Archiving & Communication Systems), the world market for which is currently worth upwards of USD 3 bn and is showing a strong growth.

In memoriam Alfred Heineken
It is with great sadness that the Management Board of Heineken Holding N.V. and the Executive Board of Heineken N.V. announce that this evening Dr. Alfred H. Heineken died peacefully at home in Noordwijk, the Netherlands, at the age of 78. The company mourns the loss of a man who, on 1 June 1942 at the age of 18, first came to work at the brewery which his grandfather had acquired in 1864.

Shell acquires capacity rights of Southern LNG
Shell Gas & Power (Shell) and Southern LNG, a FERC-regulated subsidiary of El Paso Corporation, announced on Thursday that they have entered into a binding precedent agreement for Shell to acquire all of the additional capacity offered by Southern LNG in its recently concluded open season to expand its Elba Island liquefied natural gas (LNG) facility near Savannah, Georgia.

Philips agrees to sell its Fax Business Unit to Group SAGEM of France
Royal Philips Electronics of the Netherlands and Groupe SAGEM of France announced on Thursday an agreement on the sale of Philips' business unit fax to SAGEM. The transaction is expected to close in the next few months and is subject to customary approvals. The main activities of Philips' business unit fax are located in Vienna, where about 350 employees are active in research and development, manufacturing, marketing and service.

SNT Group reduces number of jobs in the Netherlands by more than 260
As from January 2002, SNT Group N.V. will reduce the number of jobs at the recently acquired KPN business units by more than 260. The employees concerned are being made redundant in connection with the downsizing of KPN activities and the related employment situation. Employees over 55 can make use of a voluntary redundancy scheme.

Wolters Kluwer has completed the acquisition of the Medi-Span business (Indianapolis, Indiana, United States) from First DataBank,. (San Bruno, California, United States). Medi-Span has annual sales of approximately EUR 28 mln (USD 26 mln) and provides electronic drug data to US pharmacies, hospitals, health insurers, physicians and system vendors.
